Golly, a friend of mine brought up a pretty good point with me today about dollieh buying etiquette. Whether or not they are factory fresh or pre-loved babies, adding a new little resin or vinyl friend into the fold is always fun. Sometimes when adding a pre-loved boy or girl, there may be a little lee-way with pricing and conditions. While every so often I might get a decent deal on one, I keep in mind what most BJDs run, and expect them to be priced accordingly. I’m a mid-range kinda gal, so I expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $500 for an SD sized doll, and $200-$300 for an MSD.
Anyway. For the love of mercy, when looking into getting a ‘new’ pre-loved BJD and the seller says that negotiations are possible? Don’t spring on the person an offer 50% lower than the asking price which is already over $100 under retail for a blank version of said doll, and then request close to $100-$150 worth of freebies on top of that. Offers of that nature are actually kind of insulting and a little disrespectful. I know I’d be somewhat offended if someone ‘offered’ up $150 for one of my Allisons. There are very good reasons that BJDs cost what they do… and one of those reasons is that a TON of work goes into each of their hand-cast little keisters. ^.~
