I know, it’s not Friday. But, since the Hiatus is still on… I figured that I’d post a couple of the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff that led to the formation of Acrylic-Eyes as it is now. Once the hiatus is over, I’ll be returning to my regular Friday update schedule. ^____^
This page is the second page ever drawn related to Acrylic Eyes. Pretty much, I was in a Foundations Comic Art class, and the professor (the incredibly awesome and talented Terry Beatty!!!) told the class to do a comic page as their homework. Naturally I gravitated towards dolls and tried to shove an entire story notion onto one page… Now I know that Mr. Beatty was essentially checking to see what level everyone in the class was at, and how to better tailor the schedule to help us.
Anyway. A lot has been improved since this page was drawn and inked. Panel layout is a lot more organized, which helps with the reading of the page. Seriously, even I get confused now as to where I’m supposed to look next on this one, and I’m the one who DREW it. I’ve also gotten my line-weight variation under control. The weird use of that funky tone has been dropped in favor of my own half-tone pattern that I can manipulate with greater success. Facial expressions are also improved… as being, uhm, more expressive? XD
Eventually the ideas that were originally behind this poorly executed page will be incorporated into the normal story of Acrylic Eyes… I’m just still debating on how to bring them out/establish them best.

I hope you have more comic pages for this story. You just can’t leaving us hanging on the fate of this poor little lady.

I can’t fathom doing that to my kiddos…
Though I do need to still unpack them from the move and put them up in their new display cabinet.. ;3
